Veneers Can Correct Many Smile Flaws

Posted .

What are veneers?
A veneer is a thin shell of tooth-colored material that is cemented on the front of a tooth to improve its appearance. Veneers also provide strength to the treated tooth. Veneers are custom made, so they look like natural teeth.

Can my smile benefit from veneers?
Dr. Bartholomew Paxton may recommend veneers in Keller, Texas, if you have one or more of the following smile flaws:

– Discolored teeth
– Misshapen teeth
– Chipped or cracked teeth
– Worn down teeth
– Slightly crooked teeth
– Gapped teeth

How are veneers placed?
First, a small amount of enamel is removed from the front of the tooth or teeth being treated. This allows room in the mouth for the veneers. Impressions of the tooth or teeth are taken so that the veneers can be custom made. Once the veneer is complete, our dentist will check the fit and color before permanently cementing the veneer in place.

How should I care for my veneers?
It may come as a surprise to you that veneers don’t require any extra care. Simply brush them twice a day and floss them once a day, as you would your regular teeth. Also, be sure to visit our office at least twice a year for your professional cleanings and exams.
